Easy way to add gigabit Ethernet ports September 3, 2010 M. Lang (Bethlehem, PA United States) I don't have a lot to say about this D-Link switch. I plugged it into a port on my gigabit router (also D-Link), and it has worked flawlessly to give my seven more ports. (One port is used to connect the switch to the router.) I made sure that I upgraded all my cables to CAT6 for full gigabit speeds. While I cannot verify the speeds, my NAS definitely detects a gigabit connection, and the speed of transfer is noticeably faster than my older 10/100 MB router and network. The switch also has indicators on the front panel to show activity, and indicators that show what speed is detected (gigabit, 100 MB, or 10 MB). For technical users, I understand this switch is unmanaged, so it does not have traffic priorities. However, it is non-blocking so all ports can be used simultaneously at full speed. Highly recommended.
Used and Abused August 29, 2010 Nicholas Enero Part of the network in my old house also included the garage and was pleasantly surprised how durable this switch is. The switch out there survived freezing temps, triple digit temps, getting pee'd on and crapped on by the mice... Any hardware that can take that abuse for a year and keep running full bore gets my vote. Still works just fine after three years, recently purchased another two for the network in my new house.
Great Performance, No problems! August 28, 2010 R. Ramirez (Barrington, IL USA) I bought this switch a few weeks ago because I wanted to expand my network. I also had several Gigabit devices I wanted to take advantage of. This switch is very easy to set up and use. Simply plug and play. Performance is great, haven't had any problems with it. Highly recommend.
Great Performance & Reliability August 21, 2010 Trigunflame (USA) I've had this on my LAN for a few weeks now & I must say, it's Great.
I'm running 6 devices off of it at the moment and getting ~114MBs throughput via Cat-6.
Couldn't ask for anything more.
My favorite switch August 17, 2010 A. Wiersch (Lantana, TX USA (near Dallas)) It just works, saves energy (supposedly), and is reasonably priced. I have 3 of the 8 port switches and one of the 5 port switches. I haven't ever noticed any problems with any of these D-Link "green" switches. There are also some "deals" and rebates on them from time to time.
The only little con I can think of is the LED display could have been better. It has a limited angle that you can look at the LEDs at and see them accurately.
