1 out of 5 stars You can't get a replacement belt for it anywhere!!!   September 8, 2010
James White (Keaau, Hawaii, US)
When the Sunbeam 5891 bread maker which has been used about a dozen times quit working I discovered the belt was destroyed. Every place I checked including Sunbeam service centers stated that a replacement belt is not available anywhere. I really hate to throw it away but what else can you do? I would NEVER buy another Sunbeam.

5 out of 5 stars Bread and pizza dough wonders   September 4, 2010
Mark
This machine is easy to use. Add a free membership to [...] and we're good to go. The homemade pizzas from the Sunbeam bread machine dough setting have been outstanding. I make the dough in the morning and take it out in the PM for pizza. (green peppers, onion, pepperoni, black olives, sauce---good stuff!) The homemade bread and rolls have been a hit with my sons. The machine does rock and roll a bit, so don't set it near the edge of the counter. I caught the machine trying to jump over the side (a door stop will keep it from crawling). Good job for around $50.

5 out of 5 stars the best   September 3, 2010

This is my third bread machine and I think it is the best. It is my first Sunbeam bread machine. The recipe for whole wheat bread that came with the machine is the best wheat bread I have ever had in my 61 years! I would recommend this machine to anyone....

3 out of 5 stars Problems with drive spindle   August 31, 2010
Rod H. (Kansas)
The bushing on the drive spindle gave out today. There had been problems with the spindle not wanting to turn for some time. Probably still the best buy in a bread machine. I used it a lot. It cooked a little too hot.

2 out of 5 stars Seemed good at first, but broke down quickly   August 30, 2010
M. Welker (USA)
I received this breadmaker as a gift about 1 1/2 years ago. At first, I loved it, although I had trouble getting good wheat bread out of it. After a few months, and trying a ton of recipes, I realized that the wheat cycle didn't work -- the bread always rose too high and collapsed. I had hoped to use the timer function to have hot bread waiting for me in the morning, but it was noisy enough that it woke me each time it started kneading, so I only tried that once. It still made good white bread, though.
Then, after I'd had it for about 6 months, I used the dough cycle and noticed a black oily substance on the bottom of the dough. The bread pan was leaking black grease into each batch of bread I was making. I called the manufacturer, and they sent me a new bread pan under warranty.
However, after a few months, this pan began squeaking horribly, then grinding. It was almost too noisy to be in the same room while it was kneading. I didn't use it very often after this, but the last time I used it the motor was grinding, but it wasn't turning the blade anymore, so I tossed it.

PROS: Makes bread more quickly than other breadmakers (basic cycle is 3 hours or less)
pretty good warranty service
cheap

CONS: CHEAP
Didn't work right from the beginning, then quickly began to fall apart
Very poor manual, with mistakes in recipes and almost no detail on what each cycle does
Noisy -- not too bad during the day (when new), but too noisy to run at night with the timer
